Professor Washington Yotto Ochieng, Head of Centre for Transport Studies and Dr Arnab Majumdar, Reader in Transport Risk Management - Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Imperial College London

The faculty comprises academic staff with backgrounds in engineering, economics and mathematics, and around 60 research staff and doctoral students. It has consistently received the highest possible rating for research in all assessment exercises undertaken by the UK Government over the past two decades.

The Centre also includes several specialist research units and enjoys collaborative links with other groups in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, elsewhere in Imperial College, other academic institutions and industrial partners.

CTS forms the focus for wider transport research interests at Imperial College London, with a network of over 30 affiliated scholars. It has extensive collaborative links with the public and private sector including programmes of research with organisations including The Lloyd's Register Educational Trust and Transport for London. CTS actively collaborates with other universities and the international consulting industry.

Professor Washington Yotto Ochieng is the Head of the Centre for Transport Studies and Chair of Positioning and Navigation Systems in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. He is also the Director of the Imperial College Engineering Geomatics Group (ICEGG).

Professor Ochieng's research interests are in the design of positioning and navigation systems for land, sea and air applications; Air Traffic Management (ATM) and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

Dr Arnab Majumdar is the Lloyds Register Foundation Reader (Associate Professor) in Transport Risk Management and the Director of the Transport Risk Management Centre at the Centre for Transport Studies.

He has over 20 year’s research experience in air transport. His specialty is in the investigation of problems in Air Traffic Management and Air Traffic Control internationally.
