This event is held at Imperial’s Department of Aeronautics. You will visit the wind tunnel facilities, flight simulator and drone testing areas.

Our Behind-the-Scenes events give a unique glimpse into the world-class facilities and departments, both at Imperial and at off-site facilities featuring Imperial alumni.

You will be welcomed by Imperial Professors to the venue, given an overview and tour from the very researchers and students that work there.  Light refreshments are provided at the end of the visit while you chat to your hosts.

They are exclusively for Members and, due to the nature of the events, places are limited.

The Department of Aeronautics has excellent facilities for research and teaching. Research facilities support computational and experimental projects in fluid mechanics, structural analysis, composites, optimisation and control and aircraft design.

Experimental research is supported by well-appointed laboratories and wind tunnels, some of the equipment being unique in this country.

2018 marks a hundred years since aeronautics was first studied at Imperial College London. It is now the UK's leading Aeronautical Engineering Department.
