Behind-the-Scenes @ the National Oceanography Centre
The NOC is one of the world’s top oceanographic institutions, providing the UK’s National Capability needed to be a top global player, to lead and participate in international cooperations.
Our hosts for the visit will be Dr George Nurser, ocean modeller, interested in understanding the processes that drive the ocean circulation from the Marine Systems Modelling department; and Ian Folger, the host from NOC Events.
This is an amazing opportunity to visit the National Oceanography Centre (Southampton), one of the world’s top oceanographic institutions, and glimpse at how they undertake world leading research in large scale oceanography and ocean measurement technology innovation; working with government and business to turn great science and technology into advice and applications.
The visit consists of a welcome and introduction by the team, guided visits to various departments and research, lots of opportunity for Q&A and time for refreshments in their café.
The simplest travel option – other than making your own way there by car – is to travel by train. Nearer the time we will send suggested train times so that the group can travel together. Travel costs are not included in the event fee.
You can find out more about the amazing work they do here ahead of your visit.
