Behind-the-Scenes @ the National Oceanography Centre

NOC, Southampton

Exclusively for Members and their guests

The NOC is one of the world’s top oceanographic institutions, providing the UK’s National Capability needed to be a top global player, to lead and participate in international cooperations.

Our hosts for the visit were Dr George Nurser, ocean modeller  interested in understanding the processes that drive the ocean circulation from the Marine Systems Modelling department; and Ian Folger, the host from NOC Events.

Members had an amazing opportunity to visit the National Oceanography Centre (Southampton), one of the world’s top oceanographic institutions, and glimpse at how they undertake world leading research in large scale oceanography and ocean measurement technology innovation; working with government and business to turn great science and technology into advice and applications.

The visit consisted of a welcome and introduction by the team, guided visits to various departments and research, lots of opportunity for Q&A and time for refreshments in their café.

You can find out more about the amazing work they do here.
