A cross between a Behind-the-Scenes event and a Fireside Chat!
Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron. It works like a giant microscope, harnessing the power of electrons to produce bright light that scientists can use to study the structure of anything from fossils to jet engines to viruses and vaccines.
Diamond is one of the most advanced scientific facilities in the world, and its pioneering capabilities are helping to keep the UK at the forefront of scientific research.
We joined Diamond’s Public Engagement Team for a 'virtual visit' of this facility to learn more about how Diamond works, the discoveries that have been made there and went for a virtual walkaround of the synchrotron.
Fireside Chats are live streamed events held on the occasional Friday afternoon @ 4pm, featuring more of a short presentation or talk, an informal chat and Q&A with the audience. These events are free and exclusively for Members as part of the annual Membership benefits.
