Tour of the Royal Institution

History of Science series

Members joined a bespoke heritage tour and explored the history and architecture of the building with an archival expert.

They explored the history and architecture of the historic 21, Albemarle Street home with an expert member of the Ri Collections and Heritage team and discovered the stories behind their Faraday Museum displays.

The tour started on the first floor, where the displays relate to the theme of communication. Next was the ground floor, which covers the past and present activities of the Royal Institution. And finally, the lower ground floor, which is devoted to the history of scientific discovery.

There was also a visit to the historic Theatre where the famous Christmas Lectures are recorded.

This event was part of the History of Science series, an exclusive programme of in-person visits for Members. Each event gives Members of Friends of Imperial College and their guests unique access to facilities with our Behind-the-Scenes events in Imperial and beyond.
