Over half the world’s population now live in urban settings and it is estimated to increase to 66% by 2050. This will bring challenges to healthcare provision, infrastructure, transport, waste and resource allocation.
In November 2020 the Enterprise Lab at Imperial College London, in partnership with Tsinghua University’s x-lab in Beijing, held the Innovating Smart Cities Hackathon 2020, to come up with innovative solutions to UN Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
One year on, our Cities of the Future event recaped on the topic and we heard from one of the entrepreneurs who has been working on exciting developments from the 2020 Hackathon.
