Tour of LEIR (Low Energy Ion Ring) at CERN
Members had a guided virtual visit to CERN's Low Energy Ion Ring, a particle accelerator used to accelerate and provide ions for collisions within the Large Hadron Collider.
Although public visits to CERN have been suspended due to COVID-19, it is still possible to learn about CERN, its facilities and its research from the team who work there.
This live streamed tour included 40 minutes presentation by CERN experts followed by 20 minutes of live Q&A.
We all enjoyed background reading ahead of the tour, visiting the LEIR page here on the CERN website.
This Fireside Chat was part of our very own mini-series over summer, a programme of FREE events exclusively for Members.
This is a past event.
