International science tour to Darmstadt
A bespoke international science tour visiting the leading scientific and engineering facilities in and around Darmstadt including the European Space Operations Centre.
Friends Chair and Trustee, Professor David Southwood CBE will lead this international science tour which features exclusive group events with leading experts and professional guides:
- Tour of the European Space Operations Centre with a special update from JUICE Mission Control
- Visit to Eumetsat, the European Organisation for Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites
- GSI Helmholtz, Centre for Heavy Ion Research
- Visit to the TECHNIK MUSEUM SPEYER
As well as being the Science City, Darmstadt is renowned for its Jugendstil (art nouveau) architecture. And for those interested in history, Speyer, one of Germany’s oldest cities and under one hour’s drive south of Darmstadt, was the first free city of the Holy Roman Empire.
A similar Friends tour took place a few years ago and was hugely successful, this tour will be run on the same basis. The event fee will cover accommodation, group dining arrangements and internal transport. Group members will simply need to book their own travel arrangements to and from Darmstadt.
