Tour of the Antimatter factory at CERN
Members had a guided virtual visit to CERN featuring the Antimatter factory, with the Antiproton Decelerator (AD), a unique machine that produces low-energy antiprotons for studies of antimatter and “creates” antiatoms.
Although public visits to CERN have been suspended due to COVID-19, it is still possible to learn about CERN, its facilities and its research from the team who work there.
This live streamed tour included 40 minutes presentation by CERN experts followed by 20 minutes of live Q&A.
We enjoyed background reading ahead of the visit, visiting the Antiproton Decelterator here on the CERN website.
This Fireside Chat was part of our very own mini-series over summer, a programme of FREE events exclusively for Members.
