What gravitational waves are revealing

How are gravitational waves detected and what are are we learning from the European Gravitational Observatory.

Professor Francesco Fidecaro, Pisa University, Former Vigo Collaborative spokesperson and Former EGO Scientific Director

For our first event in 2021, live streamed direct from Italy, this lecture explained how gravitational waves are detected, what we are learning and expect to learn from the European Gravitational Observatory.

The European Gravitational Observatory is part of a network of gravitational wave detectors, LIGO in the United States, Virgo and GEO in Europe, with KAGRA in Japan.

Since April 2019 these instruments have been listening to the universe to catch new signals carried by gravitational waves.

The recording is available on our YouTube Channel here.

You can subscribe to the channel for free by clicking the red ‘subscribe’ button on the YouTube page, you can then get sent notice of when another lecture has been added.
